Ch.7- The demon inside.

Ryan stood in his house alone, lying to his so called friends and such about him leaving town. The truth is that he’s hiding from the wizard council and mostly Maria. He could go up face to face and tell her the truth about his demon slowly taking over him, that’s why he has been mean and cruel over the past months.  He was hiding because he knew that he'd hurt her more. She was the one who mattered most to him. If only she knew that, only if she knew the truth.

“You’re a monster...”

“Shut up.” Ryan mumbles to his self.

”Just give in, Ryan, I know you want to.”

“Shut up.” Ryan says a little louder.

”Everyone hates you and you know it.”

“I said shut up!” Ryan screams, using his powers to break a vase near him.

Ryan looked down at the broken vase, then at his bleeding hand. His dark red blood dripped onto the ground, looking down he felt wet tears run down his face.

“I-I’m sorry Maria...” he cries out. “I’m sorry for being an asshole and not caring about you. I do care about you Maria, I care about you more than the whole world, or even my own life.”

Ryan starts giggling insanely, as he licks the blood off of his hand. “S-See, Ryan, you rather give up your own life for a mere human.” his demon side replied.

Ryan shakes his head, trying to keep control of his own body. “L-Leave me alone!!” he screams. “G-Get out of me!!”

Ryan stubbles around and fights with his self, slapping his self senseless, trying to choke his self, and lots more. He finally got tired and fell on the couch, both him and his demon were tired of fighting each other. He stared at the ceiling as he slowly closed his eyes and felt asleep. Dreaming of him and Maria being together and happy, no worries, no troubles, no maybes and nevers. Just a perfect paradise.

She giggled and pulled at his hand, "Come on Ryan!!" Tugging him up the hill, their gold wedding rings clinger against each other.

A grown woman, his true love, fell down into the soft grass and looked up at him with loving eyes.

Then he felt a pair of arms wrap around his leg, and another childish giggle, "Daddy! Daddy! Pick me up!!"

Ryan chuckled at the young girl and picked her up, saying, “I got ya, you little cutie!”

He nuzzled the young girl’s neck, kissing her neck softly before setting her down. The young toddler waddles over to an older Maria, giggling, “Mommy! Mommy! Can Daddy show me a magic trick?” the girl asks Maria.

Maria giggles and holds the girl in her hands, “Sure-”

Then everything changes, dark clouds roll in as Ryan hears an evil laugh. Maria looks at him in fear and screams as she and the girl disappear into the black void.

“T-The hell?!” Ryan shouts.

He soon felt a sharp pain in his stomach, looking down he sees a knife in his stomach. His eyes widen has the knife is pulled out, blood drips out of his stomach and to the grass which was now dead. Ryan’s eyes roll back and he falls to the ground, hearing a blurred out voice calling for him, swearing at the Lord. Then it was black.

Ryan’s opened as he gasped for breath, sitting up quickly he looked around the living room of his house. “It was just a dream Ryan...” he mumbled to his self.

He stood up and rubbed his sleepy eyes, walking into the kitchen he grabbed a cup and pours water into it. Drinking the water, he sighs and looks at his bookbag. “Enough with the lies, Ryan Johnson Kristo. Time for you to start over.” Ryan says to his self.

Grabbing his bookbag, he walks out the door and to the bus stop. He sits on the bench at the bus stop and thinks about how he’s going to explain to everyone why he’s home early. The bus arrives and kids stare at Ryan as he gets on the bus. The teens whisper and gossip about him, Trevor, Danny, Austin and Derek see him on the bus, their eyes were widen as he went to the back of the bus and sat alone.

Today is a new day, a new beginning...

(Henry’s POV)

I walked down to my locker, disappointed that I couldn’t find Ryan Kristo, it was like he disappeared out of my radar.

To my surprise, Maria, who had gone off on me yesterday, approached me. Opening her locker, she started, "Look, Henry... I was a complete moron yesterday. I can't believe that I acted that way, especially in front of someone I barely know.. It was wrong for me to assume you had ulterior motives... I hope if I haven't scared you off we can be friends," she smiled at me softly and I nearly melted, "My friends don't really.. Aren't really going to wanna help, and you need someone to take you around school and help get you adjusted. If you aren't already freaked out.. I'd like to be that friend."

I couldn't help but smile at her as I put my books in my locker, making sure that I had everything in there. “Yeah, that would be nice.” I said, turning to her I smiled, “Plus I’m sure that we will be the best of friends!”

At that, I could see her eyes brighten and she laughed. Man, that laugh. It was melodic, and it sounded like a pure guardian angel watching her. I chuckled along with her. “Yeah the best of fr-”

Then, the laughing and giggling stopped as she stared straight ahead. I turned my head and saw him, Ryan Kristo. I could tell this face apart from other people, because every time I see him... I see the past him. A knight in shining armor, carrying potions in his bag and his brown eyes. Though, now he looks different than the past him with his dull green eyes and his gothic look, he still kinda looks like a knight.

"Maria, I-" he started, and then he looked at me. Underneath the look of confusion was one of malice, and I could tell he was instantly cautious, "... I'm sorry Maria.. I want to start over with you! Please, we can be just friends if that's what it takes, but I need you in my li-"

"Just stop Ryan." she said, holding up her finger to his lips, “You’re not off the hook so easily. I thought you were going to be gone for two weeks and suddenly you’re back like it was nothing.”

“Maria...I...”

I could tell that he was trying not to get angry and snap, not to mention to let his demon take control. He sighed, “Okay, if you don’t want to be my friend, that’s fine. I just thought we could start over, that’s all.” He opened his locker, grabbed his books out of his locker and left.

Maria frowned, but I could see a look of remorse. I guess she just remembered I'd forgiven her for the same crime. I felt bad. What surprised me though, was that she went after him.

(General POV)

Maria grabbed the black haired teen’s wrist and stopped him from going any farther, "Ryan, wait," she said.

Ryan looked back at Maria, frowning slightly at her. He knew that he was going to get slapped and kicked all over again, like he did last Friday.

"Y-You know I believe in second chances.. So.. I'll give you another chance. Everyone deserves another, but Ryan.. This is my last one.." She looked into his eyes and Ryan could see that they were laced with hurt. He felt horrible, "I don't think I could handle any more heartbreak..."

"M-Maria, I-"

She held up a finger, "This doesn't mean we're getting back together though.. We're going to be friends, because I can't leap into another relationship with you, if you don't show me that this is something you really want. This does not guarantee our other friends will approve either.."

“I know...but I have to try, right?”

She smiled slightly, and murmured, "Yeah.." Looking back up at the wizard, she tried to read his expression, "Please.. Just.. Just don't betray me again.. If you were unhappy with the idea of us.. Then we can be friends and never go back to that relationship again.."

He nodded and gave a slight smile. “Okay.. but right now, I want to earn your trust before I jump into a relationship, Maria.”

Maria smiled at that. Maybe he was learning.

"Thank you, Ryan.. That means a lot,"

And to Ryan's shock, she hugged him. He didn't know whether to hug back or not, but he missed this. He missed her arms around him, and all of the loving smiles she'd give. Hopefully, if he played his cards right, he'd win them back.

Letting go, she smiled softly at the ground, "Bye Ryan.." Inside, she was secretly glad her friend was back. She walked back to her locker and grabbed her books before walking off, Henry and Ryan glared at each other. “Stupid wizard council,” Ryan started, “What the hell are you doing here?”

“That’s none of you business, Ryan Kristo.” Henry said.

“Well I hope you’re here for Gregory Franks and not me, that kid has been stirring up trouble around here, playing with demon spells and such. He almost kill someone I care about so much.” Ryan said, walking off slowly, “Either way, you don’t know what you’re messing with."Turning back, he added, " And I don't want Maria getting involved with the wizard council. Stay the fuck away from her" Ryan snarled

“Wow, such language in a school environment.” Henry hissed at Ryan.

“Shut the fuck up.” Ryan growled.

Then Ryan walked away, pissed off the wizard council for sending a idiot like Henry for a mission that he doesn’t even know about. Henry sighed as he watches Ryan walk off.

“Let’s hope that Maria can give him so much kindness or love that his demon disappears, because if he keeps himself like this, his demon will devour him...”

Henry gets his books and walks off, confused as hell on where he should go. “Where’s Maria when you need her.” he said to himself.

Sighing, Henry walks off trying to find his first class. He felt a hand grab his wrist and he bristled in alarm. Turning, he saw a beaming Maria

"You're going the wrong way! Your first class is with me, so I'll take ya there!" She giggled that harmonious giggle again before letting go and leading him down the hall. He had to admit, the contact between them was electrifying, but he had to stay on task. Ryan Kristo needed to be controlled.

Fuck.. The first normal girl I've ever met, and I have to give her away to that douchebag. Oh, me, why are you so chivalrous

They both arrived at the science room, to Henry’s surprise, both wizards, Ryan Kristo and Greg Franks were in the same room as him.

Great...this is just great...

Ryan looked pleadingly at Maria to be his lab partner, but instead, Greg pulled her down to his chair, "Hey toots," he smirked, trying to get that damn wizard councilor to go after Ryan, "Teach over there says that we gotta be lab buddies,"

Maria scoffed and rolled her eyes, taking out her notes and looking apologetically at Henry. Henry was forced to sit next to Ryan Kristo.

This is going to be a long day

Danny stared back at Henry and Ryan, knowing that with those two together there’s going to be trouble. Cassie looked back at the two boys, frowning slightly, “Hey Daniel..I thought you said that Ryan wasn’t going to be here for two weeks.”

“That’s what Austin said, Cassie, honestly I don’t know what he’s doing back here so early but him and the new guy working together doesn’t seem like a good thing.” Danny replied, looking back down at his notes, “Come on let’s work, your parents will be mad if you don’t get an A in science class, Cass.”

“Okay..whatever you say, Danny.” she mumbled.

Henry felt Ryan kick his leg and tried to ignore it. It happened again and again, and before the sixth time, Henry kicked him back. They proceeded to kick each other for the next 40 minutes until class was overminutes. Finally the bell rings and everyone gathers their stuff up and leaves the classroom, Henry meets up with Maria in the hallway. “Okay, where to next, Maria?”

“Well you’re schedule says to math, I’m going the other way though, maybe Trevor can show you where it is, since you both have that class!” Maria beams as she calls Trevor over.

Trevor walks over, not making eye contact with Henry. “Hey Maria, what do you need?” he asks Maria.

“Could you lead Henry to Mr.Pelle’s class, please?”

Trevor looks up at Henry, slightly scared he nods. “Yeah, I will.” Trevor say, grabbing Henry’s wrist and leading him away, “Come on new guy, let’s go to class.”

"Oh! A fellow chap!" Henry chuckled, "You come from England too?" ”

“Yeah, but I moved here around when I was fourteen.” Trevor replied, using his rough American accent, “But I barely speak in my British accent because I consider myself as American now, not British.”

"...Oh... I apologize if I've offended you in any way.." Henry scratched the back of his head. Why were they so hostile?

“No, you’re fine.” Trevor said, trying to smile at Henry, “I-I just don’t speak in my accent that often.”

Henry tried to open him up more, "Do you miss England?"

“Yeah, a little but I have some amazing friends over here.” Trevor replied, speaking in his smooth British accent.

Henry tilted his head. He had thought Trevor didn't speak in an accent anymore. He didn't question it though, afraid of scaring him away, "Say, where in England are you from? London?"

“Yeah, London, it’s beautiful if I must say so for myself.” Trevor said, rubbing his throat while coughing, trying to keep doing his American accent.

"Oh! Me too! Have you ever been to the Lion's Den cafe?" Henry beamed, trying to get Trevor comfortable. The Lion's Den was a very popular British cafe, "Their scones are divine."

Trevor licked his lips at the thought of The Lion’s Den scones, “Mmm, yeah I have been there a lot, that was my favorite study place, very quiet and peaceful.”

Henry smiled warmly, "Say there.. I guess it's not so much of a secret to you and your friends that I'm.. A wizard.. But I've learned a teleportation spell that's quite handy! What say, maybe sometime, you and I can go visit the Lion's Den? It'd be nice to have someone who appreciates it as much as I do,"

Trevor’s smile turned into a frown, “Great, that sounds great.”

Henry was taken aback. What was wrong? What had he done wrong? "Is something wrong?"

Lying, Trevor replies, “No, nothing is wrong.”

Henry quietly looked down, and tried to keep himself from getting upset.

It's okay.. You're not here to make friends

Trevor sighs, “Sorry, if I’m acting a little bitter, I’m just turning back to normal from...um uh being possessed.” Looking down, Trevor remembers killing poor little animals and almost killing his best friend, “I know it sounds crazy, but it’s true.”

"No, it's quite alright, Trevor.. I'm just not used to all of this hostility... To be honest, Maria is the only one who has truly been friendly.. But I want to be friends with you Trevor. I want to get to know you more.." Giving Trevor a friendly smile, he looked away, anxious.

Trevor smiled at Henry, “Yeah, I think that would be nice. I don’t think I should make some kind of conclusion before I get to know you.”

Henry smiled, "So, are you up for the Lion's Den after school? We could study like you said you used to, and I can bring us back whenever you wanted. It's Tuesday so we could stay for an afternoon. I wouldn't want to keep you from home too long."

“Yeah, that sounds nice, I could go for a good scone right now.” Trevor chuckled.

Henry beamed and they took their seats next to each other. Trevor opened his textbook, as he got out last night’s homework, and Henry followed his lead. For the rest of class, they just shot smiles at each other and chatted about Mother England. When the bell rang, they rushed out of the classroom and to their next classes, waving goodbyes.

Henry met up with Maria, grinning at her, “Hey Maria, how was class?"

Maria laughed, "It was normal I guess, but judging by your smile, you enjoyed Trevor?"

“Yes! He’s so kind and funny!” Henry beams at her.

Maria giggled, "That's great!! I'm so glad you're making friends! I think your next class is with me and Roy!"

Henry chuckled, “Okay! Lead the way Miss Maria!”
